Samarpan Academy announces admission open for the Masters in Counseling Psychology (MCP), under the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, affiliated with Tribhuvan University.

Program Description

The MCP course will offer a comprehensive overview of counselling psychology and equip students with the skills and techniques to be effective and compassionate Counseling Psychologists and able to work in a wide variety of settings.

The course is designed to make students competent on both the prevention and intervention level. They will be exposed to a wide array of patient populations and communities for understanding and providing care, support and counselling. In each semester students need to learn skills and involve themselves in practice, exercising and applying their knowledge and skills. After completion of the program students will be able to conduct and provide direct psychosocial and mental health counseling services to clients across a wide range of medical, research, mental health and independent practice settings.

A limited number of students are admitted each year and placement is competitive. The program’s training emphasizes both academic and applied experiences that incorporate development-contextual and multicultural frameworks to understand and promote psychosocial and mental health and well-being in diverse populations.

Eligibility

• Completion of PGD in Counseling Psychology, or
• Bachelor Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Health Sciences or Medicine (with 3 papers in psychological sciences) with at least second division or 2.0 CGPA, and/or
• Masters in Social Sciences subjects with 3 to 6 months training and practice in counseling
• Selection is based on certificates and entrance exam marks
