MECEE-BL 2026 Application Open: Medical Education Common Entrance Examination for Bachelor Level

The Medical Education Commission (MEC) has announced a significant update for students applying to the common entrance examination for bachelor's level medical education (MECEE-BL 2026).

In a notice issued on 2082/05/11, the commission's Executive Committee has relaxed the citizenship certificate requirement for minors. Previously, a Nepali citizenship certificate was a mandatory part of the online application.

Now, Nepali citizens who have passed Grade 12 but have not yet reached 16 years of age and cannot obtain a citizenship certificate will be allowed to submit their application using a minor's identification card issued by the District Administration Office. This change is applicable as long as the applicants meet all other qualifications for the medical entrance exam.

Medical Education Commission calls for online applications for the selection of candidates in the following health professional programs run by all Universities, affiliated colleges, and Health Science Academies throughout Nepal. 

Medical Education Commission, Sanothmi, Bhaktapur has published a notice regarding the Medical Education Common Entrance Examination for Bachelor Level Programs (MECEE-BL 2026) for admission in the following programs:

1. MBBS
2. BDS
3. BSc Nursing/B.Sc Midwifery, BASLP, B Perfusion Technology
4. BAMS, BNS, BSc MLT, BSc MIT, B Pharm, B Optometry, BPT
5. BPH

The eligible candidates can apply through online applications available at www.mec.gov.np or https://entrance mec.gov.np.

Normal Fee Deadline: 2082 Bhadra 02, 10 AM to 2082 Bhadra 22 up to 5 PM. 
Double Fee Deadline: 2082 Bhadra 22, 5 PM to Bhadra 29, up to 5 PM. 
 

Entrance Exam Dates and Time

Time: 11 AM to 2 PM

The entrance examination of all the above-mentioned programs will have a full integer of 200 marks and a duration of 3 hours. The candidates can apply for more than one program. However, a separate bank voucher and online application form must be submitted for each program.

National Medical Education Act 2075 has envisioned the common entrance examination to be conducted by the Medical Education Commission for enrollment of students in various programs and colleges throughout the country.

• All the candidates should fill up the online form as stated within the due date.
• Eligible candidates can apply for more than one program with separate bank payments as per the above examination schedule.
• Foreign candidates should choose one of the following options while filling up the online application form:
• Foreign to appear MECEE-BL 2026: Foreign not to appear MECEE-BL 2026 who has passed the national level entrance examination of their respective countries.

Eligibility

The candidate should have passed grade 12 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Biology scoring minimum of 50% aggregate in total marks of CGPA 2.4 or equivalent.

Note: 

1. Candidates who have participated in the Class 12 examination conducted by the National Examination Board in Baisakh 2081 and whose results are yet to be published can apply by submitting the admit card of the said examination from the Science stream.
2. In the case of candidates who have applied for the Common Entrance Examination based on the Class 12 examination admit card and have participated in the examination, after the publication of the Class 12 results, the Common Entrance Examination for Medical Education and Student Admission Procedure (First Amendment), 2079, only those candidates who have fulfilled the eligibility criteria (as per point number 1 of this notice) as determined by the syllabus of the Common Entrance Examination of the respective academic program will be included in the publication of the Common Entrance Examination results.
3. Candidates applying on the basis of the Class 12 admit card this year must provide the year of the said examination, symbol number, and registration number in addition to the admit card.

Details of the fee for the online application

1. Entrance Examination Fee: NPR 4,000/- Four Thousand) or equivalent, excluding bank Entrance Examination Fee charges for Nepalese applicants and Rs. 8,000 for International Applicants.

4. Payment Services: Direct deposit at any branch of Himalayan Bank Limited, Mobile Banking, ConnectiPS, eSewa, and Khalti

Note: When depositing the fee through online mediums, it must be done only by filling the Commission’s form on the web portal. The amount should not be transferred directly to the Commission’s account.

Note: There is a provision for editing applications and saving files before submission. Application once submitted cannot be edited. However, applicants can re-apply by uploading a new bank voucher/payment slip

The available seats for the foreign candidates in the above academic programs will be upto:

1. 8.25% of the seats in Government colleges/Academies
2. 33% of the seats in Private colleges are run by the Nepalese management team.
3. 50% of the seats in Private colleges run by Nepalese and foreign management teams. 

Required Documents

• copy of citizenship or  National ID (or NID application slip) OR
• Nepali citizens who have passed Grade 12 but are under 16 can now submit their application using a minor's identification card issued by the District Administration Office. This exception applies provided they fulfill all other required qualifications for the exam.
• 1 PP-size photo
• SEE Grade-sheet + +2 Transcript (or equivalent)

• Application fee receipt (eSewa / Khalti / Bank voucher – separate for each program)

• Reserved Quota – Recommendation letter
• Community School Students – Letter from the school and  Municipality/Rural Municipality
• Foreign Board Students - Equivalence certificate
• PCL/Diploma Holders – License from the concerned council
