The Nepalese Army Institute of Health Sciences - College of Medicine (NAIHS-COM), located in Sanobharyang, Bhandarkhal, Kathmandu, is a premier institution dedicated to producing highly skilled medical professionals. On Bhadra 30, 2067 B.S., the Ministry of Defence, Government of Nepal, granted approval to establish the college under the auspices of the Nepali Army. NAIHS-COM aims to provide quality medical education, thereby contributing to the nation's healthcare system. The College of Medicine of NAIHS (NAIHS-COM) offers Bachelor's, Master's, and DM/MCh-level academic programs under the affiliation of the Institute of Medicine, Tribhuvan University, and fellowship training programs under the affiliation of the Nepal Medical Council. NAIHS-COM commenced its five-and-a-half-year Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) program with an intake of 100 students in 2011. The total intake in this college in all programs has reached 1896 students over the past fourteen years, in which a total of fourteen batches enrolled in MBBS, five batches in BPH and B SC MLT, six batches in MD/MS, and one batch has enrolled in DM/MCh and Fellowship trainings respectively. Till now, seven batches of the MBBS program and four batches of MD/MS have already graduated.

Nepalese Army Institute of Health Sciences (NAIHS) is a not-for-profit medical education endeavor of the Welfare Fund of the Nepali Army, established with a vision of developing skilled and professional human resources in the field of medical education by providing an optimal educational environment and improving the quality of medical service of the Nepali Army and the nation as a whole. It is managed by the Directorate of Welfare Planning of the Nepali Army. Its advisory committee comprises all relevant directorates of the Nepali Army under the leadership of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS).

NAIHS operates under the affiliation of Tribhuvan University, Nepal’s oldest and most prestigious university. This institution is recognized by the Medical Education Commission, the Nepal Medical Council, the Nepal Nursing Council, and the Nepal Health Professional Council. These affiliations ensure that the programs offered are of high academic and professional standards.

  • Expansion of academic programs to include Bachelor's degrees in Dentistry (BDS), Pharmacy (B. Pharm.), Physiotherapy (BPT), etc
  • Extension of Master's degrees in various medical specialties (MD/MS/MMLT/M SC Microbiology, etc)
  • Extension of superspeciality programs  (DM/MCh)
  • Extension of Fellowship programs

These initiatives aim to address the growing demand for qualified healthcare professionals in Nepal.
