First National Conference on School Transformation

Kathmandu University High School (KUHS) and the Department of Inclusive Education, ECD and Professional Studies (DIEP) at KU School of Education (KUSOED) have announced the First National Conference on School Transformation. The conference, themed "The Transformation Roadmap: Scaling Quality, Community-Orientation and Innovation in Schools," is set to take place on Chaitra 29, 2082 (April 12, 2026) at the KUHS campus in Chaukot, Panauti.

The initiative aims to create a "strategic bridge" between the academic research excellence of KUSOED and praxis excellence demonstrated by KUHS. As 21st-century demands shift away from traditional rote learning, the conference seeks to promote inclusive, community-driven, and scalable educational models.

Key Objectives

Organizers have outlined four core pillars for the event:

  • Knowledge Synthesis: Re-envisioning learning through expert keynotes on transformative education and the "LAB School" concept.
  • Best Practice Documentation: A platform for schools to showcase proven methods that have successfully enhanced student outcome
  • Innovation Pitching: Identifying and catalyzing scalable ideas to bridge quality gaps across national school levels.
  • Skills Development: Specialized workshops focused on educator well-being, inclusion, and modern pedagogy.

Participants will select one specialized track for the 1.5-hour afternoon session:

  • Wellbeing: Prioritizing the mental and emotional health of both staff and students.

  • ECA/CCA Dynamics: Integrating extracurricular activities into the core curriculum.

  • Exam Free Evaluation: Moving away from high-stakes testing toward holistic evaluation.
