Congress leader Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba has resigned from the post of chairperson of Ullens School Management Committee. The school was vandalized and set fire during Gen Z movement on Bhadra 24, because of misinformation and rumors linking the school with Dr. Deuba.

However, Rana was only the chairperson of the Ullens School Management Committee. The Ullens School has been reported to have been the victim of rumors during the protests. In a statement issued on Ashoj 8, the Ullens Foundation Board of Trustees appointed Dr. Deuba to the school management committee in accordance with the Education Act.

"The previous District Education Office appointed her as the chairperson of the management committee of this Ullens School. That process has continued to this day," Ullens clarified adding, "This is exactly the same chairmanship, as local people's engagement  in the management of community schools. Community schools also belong to the management committee, but only to the extent of affiliation, not as a ownership. Ownership is subordinate to the government. In the case of Ullens also, Deuba's involvement is to the same extent as in the community school. The school is actually run by the Ullens Education Foundation. Dr. Deuba is not a trustee in the foundation. She is only on the management committee, which operates with the same authority as the management committee of a community school."

Since the physical structure was destroyed by fire, Ullens has made a plan to run Ullens School Khumaltar and Ullens School Bansbari in a new way. According to a parent source, Ullens will now select trustees from the parents.
