The Institute of Engineering (IOE), Tribhuvan University, has reported an 11% increase in applications for its Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) and Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) entrance examinations for the academic year 2082/83.
According to the IOE, more than 11,500 applications were received for the B.E./B.Arch. programs this year, compared to around 9,500 in the previous session, with most applicants choosing the B.E. in Computer Engineering program as their first priority, followed by Civil Engineering, and then Electrical Engineering.
The entrance exams, scheduled to begin on Bhadra 3, 2082 (August 19, 2025), will open the gateway to 4,344 seats across IOE’s constituent campuses and affiliated colleges. Conducted as a computer-based test (CBT), the exam evaluates candidates in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and English.
Applications for this year opened on 2082/04/13 (July 29, 2025) and were submitted entirely online through entrance.ioe.edu.np.
IOE’s entrance exams attract 10,000–15,000 applicants annually, with a pass rate of around 60–65%. In 2081/82 (2024), over 9,000 students applied, and 6,538 passed, including 6,530 Nepali and 8 foreign students.
