Special School for Disabled and Rehabilitation Center

Special School for Disabled and Rehabilitation Center (SSDRC) is a certified non-profit center for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) that was established in 2010 to offer special education, therapeutic, and related care to Nepal's poorest families. It was founded on the premise that any person with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) has the ability to grow and thrive, as well as the right to programs that improve their well-being, quality of life, and educational opportunities. This is the pioneer organization to partner with children with ASD and to provide additional special needs care to adults. This center is in Pepsicola area of Old Sinamangal, Kathmandu. It is led by Miss Sabita Upreti, a social activist who also serves as the Center's Founder and Executive Director.

45 people with ASD are getting direct services of special education, rehabilitation, and vocation training right now, and 26 staff members including a team of teachers, learning support assistants, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, ABA Therapist and psychologist, Physiotherapist is working with children. Above 280 pulse ASD already had got services from SSDRC among them two youth with ASD are working as a teaching assistant in SSDRC and 36 children are included in mainstream School.

At SSDRC we believe that every autistic individual is unique and has their own needs, challenges and gifts. We strive to discover and understand the strengths of every individual child and develop the areas where they need the greatest attention.
