BECS at IACER: Shaping Communicators with Tech-Savvy Mindset

In this video, Sujan Nagarkoti, Coordinator of BECS at IACER College, shares meaningful insights about its newly introduced undergraduate program- Bachelor of English and Communication Studies (BECS), a four-year undergraduate degree program in Nepal that integrates English literature, Communication, and Information Technology (IT). He goes on to share valuable insights on curriculum, scholarship opportunities, eligibility, and career prospects. 

Nagarkoti explains how BECS is designed to meet the increasing demand for professionals who possess both strong communication skills and digital literacy. According to him, with 60% of the curriculum focused on communication and literature and 40% on IT, BECS stands out as the first course of its kind in the country. He shares the BECS program that includes 14 compulsory subjects, which follows a balanced evaluation system, with 50% internal assessment and 50% external grading conducted by Pokhara University. Sharing that the total cost for the four-year program is NPR 462,000, students from any academic background can enroll in the program with a full scholarship, for which they must apply for the scholarship exam conducted by Pokhara University.

Graduates of the BECS program will be well-prepared for a wide range of careers, including roles in media, NGOs, translation, communication consulting, and beyond. Nagarkoti encourages students to join the program as it paves the way for diverse studies in Nepal as well as abroad, such as MBA, Master of Technology (M.Tech), and other postgraduate programs.
