About Us

Shree Gautam Buddha Secondary School is located in Gorusinge, Ward No. 2 of Buddha Bhumi Municipality, in the northern part of Kapilvastu district. The school was established in 2033 BS as a primary school through the efforts of education lovers, including the late Keshav Pratap Rana, Jhalak Bikram Shah, and Khamba Bahadur Shah. It received approval for class 1 on Magh 12, 2034 BS. At that time, the school had about 2 bigha 10 kattha of land, a two-room building, 57 students, and two teachers.

The school expanded to the lower secondary level in 2037 BS, with class 6 starting that year. Full approval for the primary level was received on Asoj 2, 2039 BS, and permission to run lower secondary classes was granted on Mangsir 20, 2044 BS. After overcoming challenges, including a major fire in 2045 BS that affected the area, secondary level classes began with class 9 in 2050 BS. Permission from the Regional Education Directorate, Pokhara, was received on Poush 3, 2051 BS. In 2053 BS, the school sent its first batch of 22 students for the SLC examination, achieving a 68.15 percent pass rate.

In 2064 BS, the school received approval from the Higher Secondary Education Board on Shrawan 10 to run classes 11 and 12 in Management, Education, and Humanities streams. To meet society's changing needs, the school introduced Civil Engineering as a technical stream in 2073 BS. Today, the school has a strong physical infrastructure, including a two-story building with 42 rooms and a science laboratory constructed with support from the Government of India. It continues to serve as an important educational institution in the region. Gautam Buddha Secondary School was selected as a model school under the School Sector Development Plan (2073–2080). The school was officially recognized through a notice published in Gorkhapatra on Asar 6, 2076 BS, in accordance with the decision of the Government of Nepal.
