Chandra Secondary School

Chandra Secondary School, Siraha, established in 1914 AD (1971 BS), is a community-based educational institution in Siraha-1, Siraha, Nepal. It is affiliated with the National Examination Board (NEB) and approved by the Ministry of Education. The school offers educational programs from Early Childhood Development (ECD) to Grade 10, and includes plus two programs in Management, Science, and Education streams.

Chandra Secondary School provides secondary-level education with moderate fee structures and offers scholarship schemes for deserving students. It was one of the first open schools outside the Kathmandu Valley during the reign of Chandra Shamsher and was established in 1971 BS as the first historical English school outside the valley. The school operated as a secondary school from 2008 BS, supported by local efforts and donations of land. The late Mitra Lal Giri (father of former MP Pradip Giri) played a significant role in its development. In 2010 BS, two students passed the entrance exam with second-class honors.

To support student growth and academic success, the school is equipped with a well-managed library, science and computer laboratories, and multimedia-enabled classrooms. It also places emphasis on extracurricular activities such as sports, dance, music, and educational tours. Counseling services are available to guide students in their academic and personal journeys, and the school regularly publishes journals to encourage creative expression. Through its scholarship program and supportive learning environment, Chandra Secondary School continues to serve as a significant educational hub in the region.
