About Us

Gokundeshwor Secondary School is located in Siranbazar-6, Dhankuta. The school was established in 1989 BS and has a long history of serving the local community's educational needs. The school operates from Nursery to Grade 12 and follows the government-approved curriculum. From Nursery to Grade 5, the school also offers additional English-medium subjects to help students gain additional knowledge. The school has been handed over to the community for management at the primary, lower secondary, and secondary levels.

Parents, intellectuals, donors, social workers, local bodies, and various other stakeholders have made significant financial, physical, and educational contributions to the school. The school considers this widespread support as the backbone of its management and success. Due to the increasing number of students and strong demand from parents, the school aimed to establish itself as a quality model higher secondary school. To achieve this goal, affiliation for grades 11 and 12 was obtained from the Higher Secondary Education Board on Ashadh 22, 2062 BS. Classes 11 and 12 began operating from Shrawan 19, 2062 BS. In Poush, 2067 BS, the Science stream was also introduced.

Students from not only the Dhankuta district but also from various districts of Koshi Province come to study in grades 11 and 12 at Gokundeshwor Secondary School, reflecting the school's growing reputation. The school has set a future goal of providing even higher-quality education.

In the 21st century, with growing interest in information and communication technology, the school started computer education using its own resources during the academic session 2068 BS. A computer teacher was appointed, and computer classes are being conducted up to grade 10. The school also plans to extend computer education to higher grades. The school has made necessary arrangements for teachers, staff, and security guards from its own resources. As the school's service area continues to expand, the school has been considering internal transportation arrangements. Eventually, a school bus was provided by the Indian Embassy, making the school better equipped and more convenient for students.

Based on the performance evaluation conducted by the Social Development Ministry of Koshi Province through the Education Development and Coordination Unit, Dhankuta, the school was recommended and awarded as the best community school in the Dhankuta district for the year 2075/76 BS. The school received a cash prize of Rs. 500,000 and a letter of appreciation. The school aims to conduct new research, exploration, and studies in the coming years to further improve educational quality.
