About Us

Shree Satyavadi Secondary School is located in Bhopur, JayaPrithivi-11, Bajhang district. Established in 1963 BS (1906 AD) by National Hero Jay Prithvi Bahadur Singh, the school holds the distinction of being Nepal's second public school. It was originally founded in Naxal, Kathmandu, but later relocated to the remote district of Bajhang to escape suppression by the Rana regime, which feared that education would threaten its autocratic rule. Today, the school stands as a symbol of resilience and the first light of literacy for the Far-Western province.

The history of Satyavadi is deeply rooted in communal sacrifice. When resources were scarce, the then-King of Bajhang, Ram Jung, famously pawned his royal crown (Shreepaych) to raise funds for the school's expansion. This spirit of dedication has been carried forward by generations of educators and local leaders. In its early days, the school taught traditional mathematics and humanism using textbooks written by Jay Prithvi himself. Over time, it has grown into a comprehensive educational hub that once attracted students from as far as Humla, Jumla, and Darchula.

The school offers classes from Nursery to Grade 12. It is affiliated with the National Examinations Board (NEB) and provides Ten Plus Two programs in Science, Management, and Education. Under the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT), it also offers a Diploma in Agriculture (Plant Science) and technical education in Agriculture from Grades 9 to 12. These programs provide affordable, quality technical education to students within their own district, helping them develop practical skills and local expertise in agriculture.

The school maintains a healthy gender balance and is deeply committed to social equity. Through a strong scholarship endowment fund of approximately 30 million rupees, supported by alumni and well-wishers, the school provides financial aid to over 150 underprivileged and meritorious students each year. This ensures that the flame of education lit by Jay Prithvi Bahadur Singh over a century ago continues to shine for the youth of Bajhang, regardless of their economic background.
